TORONTO (Michigan News Source) – After winning the second game of the series on Friday night, Detroit couldn’t hold onto the win giving up four runs in the sixth inning losing, 5-3. Detroit is now 41-61 and in fourth place in the AL Central.
Toronto took the early lead, 1-0, after the first inning only to see Detroit score three runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings. Kody Clemens tied the game at one on sacrifice fly scoring Eric Haase. Riley Green gave Detroit the lead, 2-1, doubling in Robbie Grossman. In the sixth inning, Johnathan Schoop singled to right field as Jeimer Candelario was the third run to score for the two-run advantage.

That all came to a halt in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Tigers pitching gave up four runs. Derek Law came in for Drew Hutchinson giving up a single and a hit by pitch. Two batters later, Law recorded an error that loaded the bases for a sac fly to pull Toronto within one, 3-2. Toronto’s Teoscar Hernandez came up as the next batter hitting his 14th home run of the year as three runs came in for the 5-3 lead.
Hutchinson went five innings for the no decision with three strikeouts. Riley Green, Victor Reyes, and Haase led the team with two hits each.
