DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Miguel Cabrera and Gregory Soto traveled to the bright lights of Los Angeles and a fun night of baseball representing Detroit and the American League. It was the second straight appearance for Soto as Cabrera made it his 12th All-State game as a “Legacy” selection by Commissioner Rob Manfred.

Cabrera came to bat in the fifth inning as a pinch-hitter for Shohei Ohtani facing Reds pitcher Luis Castillo. That at-bat turned into ground out to short stop in his only time at the plate.

Coming in a relief situation, Soto came in the seventh inning with two outs for Jorge Lopez. With the bases empty, he walked Cub’s Ian Happ. Shaking off that first batter, he followed with an inning-ending ground out to Juan Soto who won the Home Run Derby.

The American League won the game, 3-2, when Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase for the save. It is the ninth straight win by the American League.
