LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Student athletes will now be required to sign a contract with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

MDHHS  is requiring student-athletes to sign a “participant code of conduct” in order to participate in school sports.

Students must say they “will follow all state and local health orders,” including masks, and non-team gathering limitations. The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), which governs youth sports in Michigan, posted the document here.

Students must accept that they or their team may be disqualified from competition if they don’t follow government orders.

It also empowers the health department to “request documentation at any time necessary to enforce this Code of Conduct.”
