ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – In a moment of historical revisionism mixed with applause breaks, 94-year-old civil rights and labor activist, Dolores Huerta, took the stage at the University of Michigan’s Rackham Auditorium on Monday, March 31st. She was there in celebration of the 2025 César Chávez Day of Service and Learning, where she decided to educate students by comparing the Trump administration to Nazi Germany.
She used the spotlight to go after the Trump administration and suggest the illegal immigrants deported to El Salvador’s CECOT prison might just be “farm workers” or “landscapers” and not actual criminals.

Huerta, who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama in 2012, has a long history of activism and co-founded the United Farm Workers (UFW) with César Chávez. Interestingly, President Obama borrowed the English translation of the UFW’s slogan “Sí, Se Puede!” – “Yes, We Can!” – as a unifying message for his presidential campaign.
