Law enforcement first shared details about the investigation after Montoya’s February 2024 arrest. When Google reported Montoya’s collection of child sexually abusive material to authorities, Michigan State Police and ICE Homeland Security investigators Montoya’s home. The child porn he possessed involved preschool-aged children under the care of his wife’s in-home daycare.
The mother of a three-year-old victim lashed out at Montoya during his sentencing hearing.
At Montoya’s sentencing hearing, a 3-year-old victim’s mother expressed disgust and anger due to the betrayal of trust. ICE HSI Detroit acting Special Agent in Charge Jared Murphey said his department will continue to investigate allegations of child exploitation in Michigan’s communities. “We will not tolerate illegal aliens who not only violate our immigration laws, but even more egregiously, also target children for exploitation. We will hold them fully accountable for all their crimes.”
