WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Democratic Congressman Shri Thanedar is taking a familiar page out of his party’s playbook by calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Impeachment is the first major step in removing a politician from office.
Rep. Thanedar said Trump exercised “open defiance of a lawful Supreme Court order” and referred to it as an impeachable offense. Many Democrats are upset that confirmed MS-13 gang member Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien who lived in Maryland, has been returned to El Salvador. Court documents from 2021 show Garcia’s wife received a temporary order of protection against him after she said Garcia assaulted her.

The high court ruled last week the Trump administration must return Garcia, but the U.S. Supreme Court cannot enforce the ruling. In addition, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg ruled the court could hold the Trump administration in criminal contempt.
Democrats impeached Trump during his first two terms in office but the proceedings never amounted to anything.
