LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Meridian Township) must zip her lip when it comes to speaking on the Michigan House floor.
A source close to the incident confirmed with Michigan News Source that the Republican-controlled House took away Brixie’s floor speaking privileges. In addition, leadership bounced Brixie from the parking ramp where she previously parked and pulled the prank.

Security footage shows the Democratic state representative wrapping Rep. Matt Maddock’s (R-Milford) car with cling wrap over a poor parking job on April 17. Afterwards, Brixie used her speaking privileges on the House floor to lie about Rep. Maddock car. She said his car had the lights on, hood up, and the engine running, but none of that was true.
While Brixie can still talk to her colleagues on floor, she won’t be recognized to speak at the podium where lawmakers advocate for legislation or speak out against bills.
There’s no timeline on how long Brixie will be silenced.
