ROGERS CITY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The state of Michigan still had 147,495 people out of power as of 3:16 p.m. Wednesday due to a series of storms that hit the state over the weekend.
Those suffering the most were in the state’s Northern Lower Peninsula that was hit by historic ice storms. Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Otsego and Montmorency were among the Michigan counties with the highest percentage of customers without power. For example, Montmorency had 9,353 customers of the 10,500 tracked that were without power as of 3:16 April 2.

Great Lakes Energy had 35,739 customers without power while Consumers Energy had 64,577 customers in the dark and Presque Isle Electric & Gas Cooperative had 31,606 customers without power. The data is provide by poweroutage.us, which tracks utility company power outages nationwide.
“GLE is experiencing widespread outages across its service territory,” Great Lakes Energy posted on its website. “The hardest hit areas include the following counties: Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, Emmet & Otsego. We have all available crews, contract and mutual aid crews working to restore power as quickly as possible.”
The Presque Isle Electric & Gas Cooperative had 31,606 customers without power out of the 34,510 customers tracked.
On March 31, the utility company stated in a press release, “Please prepare for extended outages (5+ days for many) while crews work to clear roads, remove trees, repair power lines, rebuild poles, and restore the major high-voltage transmission systems and distribution systems which feed electricity to your homes.”
