ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Phat Phat Brooks, Michigan’s Mr. Basketball last year, and four other Michigan Wolverines have entered the transfer portal. Brooks, starter Tre Donaldson, and reserves Justin Pippen, Sam Walters, and Jace Howard are all in the transfer portal.

Brooks played in just 15 games for 48 minutes this season. He was a three-star recruit from Grand Rapids Catholic Central, where he won a state championship as a freshman and was ranked no. 207 in his class by 247Sports.

The most he played this season was in the opening game for 12 minutes in a blowout win over Cleveland State. He didn’t see the floor in January or February and played seven minutes over nine games in March.

Brooks was the first Mr. Basketball to attend Michigan since Isaiah Livers in 2017. In his exit statement, he said on his X account, “I’ve loved everything about Michigan Basketball since I was in diapers and that feeling will never change. It’s a special place and I appreciate my teammates, coaches, and every member of the maize n blue community who has supported my growth.”
