DETROIT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – It’s Opening Day in Detroit, and the Tigers are already swinging for the fences. The 2025 home opener kicks off at 1:30 p.m. ET at Comerica Park, where the Tigers will face off against the Chicago White Sox. Fans will be flooding the stands for what many in Michigan treat like a state holiday – ready to cheer their team on and hopefully watch them knock it out of the park.
Even before the first pitch, the crowd will be treated to a grand slam of pre-game festivities. Saginaw native and Grammy winner Brian d’Arcy James will belt out the national anthem, setting the stage for a flyover by an A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” from Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The ceremonial first pitch will be delivered by Southfield comedian Keegan-Michael Key.
