TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – According to State Rep. Betsy Coffia (D-Traverse City), a coup is underway. With Republicans holding power and Donald J. Trump sitting in the Oval Office, you might assume she’s pointing fingers at her own party. But Coffia isn’t exactly clear on who’s behind this alleged coup.

Is she quietly confessing that the self-proclaimed Democratic “resistance” is at work? Or does she mean Trump himself, the GOP – or perhaps Elon Musk – is staging the takeover?

If the whole thing leaves you scratching your head, you’re probably not alone. Since Trump is the sitting president, what exactly does her recent post on X mean?

So as we pointed out, Trump is currently president. And the definition of a coup, according to Merriam-Webster, is: “A sudden, decisive exercise of force in politics; especially: the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group.” The bottom line is that it involves overthrowing leadership.

So here’s the question: Is it possible for someone to overthrow themselves?

Coffia’s claim of being in the middle of a coup on X was in response to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s flip-flop on the Republican’s Continuing Resolution. This allowed the measure to be brought to the Senate floor, where it was ultimately passed. Coffia wasn’t too happy about that and she commented about him having to postpone his book tour because of the pushback against him. Coffia said on X: ”He should be doing town halls instead of promoting his book anyway.” She added that he should “wake tf up.”

Michigan News Source reached out to Coffia’s office to get clarification on who is doing the coup-ing but we did not get a response to our request.
