DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – A Michigan team heads south to Columbus again to show their dominating power. This time, it’s the Detroit Red Wings as they skate into Ohio Stadium to face the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL Stadium Series.
The Red Wings must step onto an Ohio Stadium ice rink designed to resemble the Buckeye’s helmet. The Ohio Stadium outside rink will have an Ohio State touch with Buckeye helmet stickers around the rink, a Buckeye stripe walking path to the rink, and Blue Jacket logos with an Ohio State touch.

The series will start on Thursday night in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena, as both teams battle for a playoff spot. Detroit currently holds a wild-card spot over Columbus, but the Blue Jackets are just two points behind.
Detroit goaltender Cam Talbot says, “We’re fighting for that wild card and to move up in our division. It’s going to be four big points on the line, an eight-point swing (potentially) one way or another. It just can’t be an experience (of playing the outdoor game), it has to be a game and you have to approach it that way. Business as usual.”
The last time a Michigan team came to Columbus was in November when the Wolverines shocked the Buckeyes. The Red Wings hope to continue Michigan’s success in Ohio on Saturday night.
