EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State secured the no. 1 seed in the NCAA Regional Tournament after capping a double overtime win over Ohio State, 4-3, on Saturday night. Isaac Howard netted the winning goal at 15:03 for his 26th goal of the year, giving MSU the Big Ten Championship.
MSU becomes the first Big Ten team to win the regular season and tournament championships in back-to-back seasons.

Isaac had a four-point game, scoring two goals and assisting on the two other goals. MSU took an early 2-0 lead on power plays in the first half, but OSU scored at 17:51 to come within one. After no one scored in the second period, MSU made it 3-1 just 42 seconds into the third. OSU netted two goals within five minutes at 12:46 and 17:39 to tie the game at three. Both teams had looks for the winning goal but were blocked as the game went into overtime.
A tough 20-minute overtime saw no one score before MSU had a 12-4 shot count in the second overtime, leading to Isaac’s winning goal.
MSU is the overall no. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will play in Toledo, Ohio. This is MSU’s 29th NCAA Tournament, and they will face Cornell on Thursday afternoon.
