WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s U.S. Senators sided with the transgender lobby and aligned against girls and women’s rights in sports.

Both U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Elissa Slotkin towed the Democratic party line on Monday evening. Peters voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act while Slotkin failed to cast a vote. The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act would have banned government-funded schools nationwide from allowing men to compete in women’s sports.

The legislation, which passed the U.S. House earlier, would have codified an executive order by President Donald Trump. It died in the Senate 51-45. The executive order protecting Title IX is still the law of the land.

Michigan News Source reached out to Peters and Slotkin for a comment about their vote and lack thereof. They did not respond by press time.

The no-show vote will likely cast a shadow over Slotkin’s Democratic response tonight after President Trump’s address to Congress and the nation on Tuesday night.  Trump will deliver his remarks at 9:00 p.m.
