LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The federal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has terminated seven leases of facilities in Michigan in its effort to slash government spending.

However,  Michigan has fared better than some of the neighboring states. Ohio has had 29 leases terminated, Illinois 22 and Wisconsin 16 compared to this state. Indiana has had five leases terminated.

Overall, DOGE reported terminating 748 leases nationwide, for a projected savings of $660 million in lease payments.

Michigan’s terminations:

A Social Security Administration building in Okemos with a projected savings of $544,830 with an annual lease cost of $108,966.

An Indian Health Service building in Traverse City with a projected savings of $50,177 with an annual lease cost of $28,638.

An IRS National Office in Marquette with a dollar amount of $54,343 listed with no other details.

A Departmental Management office in Grand Rapids with a savings of $202,657 and an annual lease of $51,742.

An Agricultural Marketing Service building in Detroit with a savings of $72,760 an annual lease of $17,120.

An Indian Health Service building in Sault Ste. Marie with savings of $85,937 and an annual lease of $34,375.

A Bureau of Indian Affairs with no projected savings and an annual lease of $14,440.
