LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Michigan’s 2025 spring turkey season opens April 19 and runs through June 7, with hunters allowed to harvest one bearded turkey per license.
Each year, turkey licenses are awarded through a drawing system managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This year’s application period ran from Jan. 1 to Feb. 1, and drawing results were posted March 3.

“The goal of the spring turkey hunting season is to maximize hunter opportunity while maintaining a satisfactory hunting experience,” the Michigan Department of Natural Resources said. “License quotas are developed to harvest the desired number of turkeys to meet management goals.”
Hunters selected in the drawing may now purchase a license for the Turkey Management Unit (TMU) and season dates they applied for. Those not selected in the drawing can still purchase leftover licenses, which became available on a first-come, first-served basis starting March 10 at 10 a.m. ET.
Spring turkey hunting is permitted with a shotgun, muzzleloading shotgun, bow, or crossbow, and the DNR reminds hunters to review legal hunting hours, which vary slightly by region and shift daily throughout the season.
The fall turkey season will run Sept. 15 through Oct. 29.
