FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Flint’s mayor wants to give teens a chance to beef up their resume and stay out of trouble this summer.
Mayor Sheldon Neeley announced the Safe & Clean Summer Youth Initiative. He asked the Flint City Council to approve $220,000 for the six week program. More information on how to apply for the program will be announced after the council approves the funds.

The 100 young people ages 15 to 18 selected for the program will receive jobs, peer mediation training and community engagement activities. The program is designed to give teens responsibilities and curb youth violence.
Neeley launched a similar effort last year that provided 77 students with jobs for five weeks. This year’s program would be funded again with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
