LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Secretary of State and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson will finally start cleaning up the state’s voter rolls.
Benson has faced numerous court battles over the past several years but refused to take dead and inactive voters off the state’s list. Her office said more than 318,000 inactive voter registrations are scheduled to be removed starting in April.

In addition, Benson boasted about this “milestone” for Michigan’s election system in a press release. “State and local election officials are constantly working to maintain our voter rolls transparently,” she said.
In the meantime, Benson is pushing back against the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act in Congress. It calls for proof of citizenship when registering to vote. She called the SAVE Act “a trojan horse” and a “trick” that will “end democracy.”
