MANISTEE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Tight Lines for Troops in Manistee needs more boats and captains as signups continue to climb.

The two-day event, which runs May 16-17, 2025, gets veterans out on the water for a free day of fishing. The event is close to hitting the goal of 50 boats and 50 captains, and organizers are looking for eight more.

One participant described the event this way on the website: “When I came home from duty, we were told not to wear our uniforms. The people were tired of Southeast Asia. Thank you for honoring these great men and women for their service. I was honored to be part of the day.”

Another participant said: “This is the Welcome Home I never received. After all these years, I cried because I didn’t realize how much it meant to me. I was proud to take part.”
