LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The “Not My President” rally in Lansing got underway on Monday with about 100 people in attendance despite a pair of confusing text messages sent to residents over the weekend.

The first, sent on Friday, announced the rally on Monday, Feb. 17 in front of the state capitol building.

The second, sent on Saturday night, announced the event’s cancellation due to winter weather.

Regardless, the demonstrations were held in Lansing on Monday afternoon. The group 50501 hosted the rally which aimed to hold 50 protests in 50 states on President’s Day. The protests are anti-Trump and the group calls for “resistance against the Trump administration and wealthy elites’ ripping apart our democratic institutions and civil liberties while undermining the rule of law,” according to the website.

50501 is connected to Political Revolution.

According to its website, it aims to “transform America through progressive politics.”
