WARREN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michael Danna, a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs and two-time Super Bowl Champion, will represent Warren, Michigan on Sunday in Super Bowl LIX. The five-year NFL veteran was a 2020 NFL Draft pick by the Chiefs after playing his graduate year at Michigan in 2019.
Danna led De La Salle Collegiate High School to a Michigan Division II State Championship in 2014 and was an Associated Press All-State special mention. He was ranked no. 15 on the Detroit Free Press Fab 50 and a member of the Detroit News Blue Chip list. That year also brought him honors from the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, and MLive Dream Team.

In a 2024 interview on Local 4 news, Michael’s dad Vaughn said, “Michael never touched a football other than me and him tossing it around in the yard when he was younger. When he went to high school, he immediately signed up for football.”
His play at De La Salle helped earn him a scholarship to Central Michigan University, where he played three seasons before transferring to Michigan in 2019. In an interview from 2019, he said, “Michigan’s always been my dream of mine since my childhood. Me and my father always watched Michigan games and soon as I got the I offer I knew I was coming to Michigan. I’m 45 minutes from home. My parents get to come out the Big House and cheer me on as they have been behind me since day one.”
The 2019 season molded his future in the NFL as he learned more on the defensive line playing with Aiden Hutchinson. He played in 13 games, starting one, and finished with 38 tackles and three sacks. Those numbers were good enough for the Chiefs to take him in the fifth round as the 177th pick.
Over the past five seasons, Danna has won two Super Bowls and had three tackles in Super Bowl LVIII against San Francisco. In April 2024, he re-signed with Kansas City with a three-year, $24 million deal.
