DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – The State of Michigan heads back to Columbus for the second time in less than six months to play in Ohio Stadium. This time, it’s the Red Wings against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL Stadium Series on March 1.
On Monday, Detroit unveiled their jerseys for the game through the NHL and Fanatics. The jersey highlights the cultural and historical identities of the city, as well as the automotive industry and rich hockey traditions.

Dylan Larkin says, “I think the jersey is beautiful. It’s classic and the helmets are really cool. They did a great job on designing them, and I’m just really excited to play at the Horseshoe in front of that many fans. It’s going to be a special night.”
The jersey features a ‘Detroit’ script wordmark inspired by the automotive insignias as the helmet has a racing stripe and oversized winged wheel on each side. The stripe has a metallic flake finish from the inspiration of auto paint. The jersey sleeves have debossed speed stripes, and the socks resemble racing car aesthetics. The pants contain the wordmark “Hockeytown,” the hometown slogan. The primary logo will be on the shoulder’s left side, and the Stadium Series crest will be on the right shoulder.
The game will occur at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. Fans can already purchase tickets. The Stadium Series jerseys will be available in February at the Red Wings Team Store.
Head coach Todd McLellan said on the Stadium Series, “I think it gets a little more real when those jerseys do come out. I know some of our guys were modeling. There’s a little buzz about it, a little excitement. Some of the helmets have been lying around. That just means it’s getting closer.”
