EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A top-tier program in the Big Ten for men’s and women’s basketball, Michigan State University is only one of two programs to have both its programs nationally ranked, joining Maryland. The MSU men’s team is eighth in the AP and Coaches Poll, while the women’s team is no. 22 in the Coaches Poll and no. 23 in the AP poll.
The MSU men’s team is 22-5 and faces no. 15/16 Maryland on Wednesday night. With a 13-3 Big Ten record, MSU is no. 15 in the NCAA Net Rankings, no. 10 in the KenPom.com rankings, and no. 12 in the ESPN BPI. Last Friday, they earned a hard-fought win over Michigan to take over first place in the Big Ten.

Ranked no. 22/23 in the two women’s polls, MSU is 20-7 and 12-6 in the Big Ten. For the first time in 10 years, the Spartans have posted back-to-back 10+ conference win seasons dating back to 2012-13 and 2013-14. Earning their 20th win of the year over Indiana, they have earned two consecutive 20+ win seasons since 2015-16 and 2016-17. MSU is one of five Big Ten teams nationally ranked, with UCLA at no. 2, USC at no. 4, Ohio State at no. 12, and Maryland at no. 19.
