PONTIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 34-year-old woman with three counts of first-degree child abuse in case where three children ages 12-to-15 were abandoned for years.
The prosecutor’s office will also seek to terminate the mother’s parental rights as she could face life in prison if convicted, according to WXYZ. The charges were announced in a Wednesday press conference. The mother will be arraigned on the charges on Thursday.

Authorities said garbage was piled up as high as four feet in some rooms and the house was full of mold and human waste. The toilet was overflowing and feces was found in the bathtub. They survived on food that was dropped off to them by a stranger or their mother.
“The conditions these children were living in were unspeakably horrific,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, in a press release earlier in the week.
According to the prosecutor, the children were removed from the home and placed with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The parents have been ordered by the court to not have any contact with the children, who are now living with relatives.
The mother is currently being held in jail, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
