SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – If there’s one thing the Biden-Harris administration does well, according to the Trump administration, it’s making sure your hard-earned tax dollars find their way into the worst possible hands. Because of the work of Elon Musk and DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), the wasteful spending of USAID (United States Agency for International Development)) has being exposed – and stopped.
USAID: a slush fund for the left?
USAID, originally created in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy to counter Soviet influence, was supposed to promote economic growth, humanitarian aid, and democracy. But under Biden-Harris, it looks like it was used as a global ATM for their progressive pet projects.

As USAID funneled billions out the door, much of it vanished into black holes of waste, fraud, and dubious “humanitarian efforts,” leaving American taxpayers footing the bill for what many see as a massive scam perpetrated by the Democratic Party.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said to the Daily Signal about the organization, “Under the Biden administration, USAID was weaponized to fund leftwing projects and progressive operatives. They poured uncountable amounts of money into places like the Hamas-controlled Gaza, knowing it would benefit anti-American and anti-Israel genocidal terrorists – and hid much.”
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast recently exposed a laundry list of absurd USAID grants, including:
- $20,600 for a drag show in Ecuador
- $47,020 for a transgender opera in Colombia
- $15 million in condoms for the Taliban (Yes, really.)
- $80,000 for an LGBTQ community center in Slovakia
Funding terrorism.
But it’s worse than funding drag shows and condoms. Despite USAID’S lofty mission of providing humanitarian aid, they have been caught not only funneling money to Democratic causes but also sending money to a Michigan organization with ties to terrorism.
The organization in question is Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), a Michigan-based Muslim charity. It has been on lawmakers’ radar for years due to its disturbing connections to radical groups. Yet, despite warnings and even an investigation by USAID’s own inspector general, the Biden-Harris administration kept funding them.
That includes $110K in 2021 and another $78K in 2023 to HHRD despite well-documented terrorist connections including co-sponsoring a conference in Pakistan alongside Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation, a designated terrorist group linked to the deadly 2008 Mumbai attacks. HHRD also reportedly has ties to Jamaat-e-Islami, an Islamist group accused of genocide during Bangladesh’s 1971 War of Independence. And the group has also worked with Alkhidmat Foundation, which wires money directly to Hamas – the same Hamas that orchestrated the October 7 attacks on Israel.

Yet, somehow, none of this raised enough alarms to stop the Biden-Harris administration from giving them taxpayer dollars.
USAID on the chopping block.
However, it looks like the days of funding drag shows, condoms and terrorism by USAID are over. As of February 7th, all USAID direct hire personnel were placed on administrative leave globally – with the exception of “designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designed programs.”
The agency is currently being overseen by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Trump administration is looking at terminating contracts not deemed to be essential. In a letter to congress, Rubio said that the agency is “conflicting, overlapping, and duplicative” with the State Department and he said contained systems and processes that were often in discord in the foreign policy and foreign relations of the U.S.
Rubio added, “In consultation with Congress, USAID may move, reorganize, and integrate certain missions, bureaus, and offices into the Department of State, and the remainder of the Agency may be abolished consistent with applicable law.”
The days of USAID operating as an unchecked slush fund for leftist globalist pet projects and, worse, terror-linked organizations appear be numbered. With Secretary Rubio now at the helm and the Trump administration moving to dismantle the agency’s bloated bureaucracy, accountability is finally on the table.
