DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s progressive female Democrats sure know how to pick their company. Several have been spotted at past fundraisers tied to Hezbollah-linked Imam Sayed Hassan Al-Qazwini, resident scholar of the Islamic Institute of America in Dearborn Heights, and the same cleric currently making headlines for openly calling for Israel’s destruction.

The Jewish Press has reported that in March of last year, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) was a guest at the annual fundraiser for the Islamic Institute of America and that Whitmer was a guest speaker for the institute in 2022.

Also back on October 27th, 2022, right before the state’s gubernatorial election, Michigan democrats Governor Gretchen Whitmer, AG Dana Nessel, SOS Benson, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-Ann Arbor) all attended the Arab American Political Action Committee’s annual banquet in Dearborn which was attended by Imam Al-Qazwini. It was there that Whitmer posed in a photo next to him. Photos of the event can be seen here.

Al-Qazwini is an active supporter of Michigan Democratic politicians – and nothing screams “progressive values” like rubbing elbows with an imam who, according to the recent report out of the Jewish Press has praised Hezbollah and urged for Israel’s annihilation.

Preaching terror.

A portion of a sermon by Al-Qazwini from February 21st was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) and exposes that he was praising the terrorist organization Hezbollah and calling for the destruction of Israel.

During his sermon last week at the Islamic Institute of America, Imam Al-Qazwini declared that while Israel may have taken the life of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, it could never erase his spirit, message, or mission. He insisted that Nasrallah’s assassination would serve as a catalyst for the resistance against Israel, which he described as a “tyrannical enemy.” Addressing both his Michigan congregation and listeners in Lebanon, Al-Qazwini urged them not to see this as a defeat, proclaiming, “Victory will follow.”

Al-Qazwini went on to say, “Nasrallah’s martyrdom will inspire the recruitment of thousands of resistance fighters against Israel. It will become fuel for the resistance against this tyrannical enemy.”

Amidst this new turn of events, Governor Whitmer’s photo-op with Al-Qazwini might come back to haunt her. With Al-Qazwini openly calling for the destruction of Israel, will Whitmer issue a condemnation – or will she just hope nobody remembers that she once stood shoulder to shoulder with him?
