WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – It looks like Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit), along with a chorus of other Democrats, has suddenly developed a keen interest in the economy – not only wanting to fix it, but finally acknowledging that there is a problem after four long years of living under Bidenomics.
Yes, after four long years of telling us everything was “just fine” under the Biden-Harris economy, Democrats are now waving red flags like they just noticed the tires fell off the car.
Tlaib cracks down on grocery prices and corporate greed.
Tlaib took to the House Floor recently to complain about the cost of eggs. She said, “Eggs in my district are $9.19.” She compared the price of a carton of eggs to the $7.25 federal minimum wage. She said, “Grocery prices as we know are out of control and our government is failing to lower costs for working families.”
She went on to say, “This is why my residents don’t call it the ‘minimum’ wage, they call it the ‘starvation’ wage.” She complained that a mother can work for an hour and not be able to afford eggs, pointing out that it’s “unacceptable that billionaires and corporations are consolidating their power and price-gouging the American people.”
Tlaib continued to say that Trump’s recent executive orders haven’t said anything about lowering grocery prices.
The cost of eggs is now $9 but the federal minimum wage is still $7.25 an hour. Families are struggling to buy groceries while corporations continue to profit from price-gouging. But I know this doesn’t matter to President Trump and his billionaire friends. pic.twitter.com/oDPgr9buHj

Scrambling for relevance, Democrats suddenly confront inflation.
Tlaib isn’t the only Democrat finally acknowledging that Americans are struggling with high prices – including the soaring cost of eggs. Now that their party leader is no longer in office, they are finally comfortable addressing the issue. With no clear party leadership, they’ve shifted into anti-Trump mode, conveniently distancing themselves from the very policies they championed that led to inflation in the first place.
As egg prices in Michigan continue to soar, driven by cage-free egg mandates and lingering issues with bird flu, Democrats have been conveniently sidestepping the fact that inflation had already sent grocery prices skyrocketing long before these factors.

And don’t expect relief at the grocery store anytime soon – the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects egg prices will climb another 20.3% in 2025.
Now that Biden is gone, the Democrats think they can blame Trump for the high prices of eggs and everything else.
BREAKING: New data shows the price of eggs is skyrocketing. Thanks, Donald Trump.

Americans have been struggling for years under rising costs, stagnant wages, and a crumbling sense of financial security – but it’s only after Biden has exited the stage that Democrats like Tlaib want to talk about the economy and are asking why Trump hasn’t lowered prices yet after being in office a little over a week.
Sarcastic headlines abound on the internet including the New Republic’s article “Well, Well, Well: Trump Can’t Lower Egg Prices After All” – and NBC News has an article about Democratic lawmakers slamming Trump for not lowering food prices “immediately.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sent a letter to Trump saying, “During your campaign, you repeatedly promised you would lower food prices ‘immediately’ if elected president…But during your first week of office you have instead focused on mass deportations and pardoning January 6 attackers.”
Looks like Democrats have suddenly become the champions of grocery affordability – just as long as it’s politically convenient. After years of shrugging off inflation and skyrocketing costs under Biden, they’re now pointing fingers at Trump for not fixing everything in a week. Maybe someone should remind them that it takes longer than cracking a couple of eggs to clean up a four-year economic omelet disaster.
