Jordan Dice, mall owner, issued a statement on Facebook. It said, in part, “We’ve now had countless incidents to deal with and form a consensus on. Almost all incidents have involved unsupervised children at the mall. Considering they cannot drive, and without a parent or someone of age responsible for them on the premises, they cannot leave when told and we must monitor and literally babysit them until we can locate a parent or someone that will take them,” he said.
Dice added, “We’ve had all situations ranging from loud and nuisance behavior, shoplifting, damaging property, physical fights, to even injuries sustained at the hands of unruly children that have necessitated immediate medical attention and hospital visits. A very recent incident may have left someone permanently scarred for life,” he said.
Anyone with questions about the new policy can the mall office at (989) 832-9060.
