ROTHBURY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Human remains discovered on December 30 near the Electric Forest music festival site have been identified as Kevin Graves, a Highland Township man reported missing over five years ago.
Michigan State Police confirmed the identification on January 2 in an X post, citing dental records analyzed by forensic anthropologists from Western Michigan University.

Graves, 28, was last seen in 2018 after attending the festival with his girlfriend, according to The Detroit News.
The remains were discovered on December 30 in a wooded area near Rothbury, Oceana County. Police said the cause of death remains undetermined and that “there are no indications of foul play at this time.”
Efforts to locate Graves initially involved dogs, dozens of volunteers, and divers who searched nearby lakes. In 2023, a billboard featuring his photo encouraged festival attendees to contact authorities with any information.
“Now that we have positive identification, at least the family has some closure on where he is,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement.
