DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – In November 2020, the city of Detroit voters approved a bond issuance that was not to exceed $250 million to address the effort to remove blight.
The city of Detroit received a report that Proposal N will now generate $283.7 million as of June 2024 with $97.5 million left to address blight moving forward.

The city has spent $185.8 million of the $283.7 million with $176.3 million spent on the demolition contracts and $9.5 million on the payroll costs.
The city spent $5.6 million of the bond money in Fiscal Year 2021, $56 million in FY 2022, $45.8 million in FY 2023 and $78.4 million in FY 2024.
The city deals with about 26 blighted properties a week. The city also spent $87.7 million on blight remediation in FY 2024 with federal money it received from the American Rescue Plan Act.
