ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Oakland County authorities say an Afghan refugee is facing charges after allegedly stabbing a caseworker who helps refugees.

Deputies in Oakland County said a male caseworker called 911 and said he had been stabbed multiple times in Orion Township. Authorities said they arrested the suspect after fleeing in a car.

The caseworker has undergone surgery for the “serious” stab wounds, according to officials. It is unclear what led up to the stabbing.

It’s not the first time these types of problems have surfaced in Oakland County. It has faced a barrage of high-end thefts in the past year from Venezuelan and Chilean transnational gangs.
