LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Since the latest round of COVID-19 vaccinations have been made available in late August, 10.9% of state residents have taken the latest shot, according to data from the state of Michigan.
The Food and Drug Administration approved the latest round of COVID-19 vaccinations on Aug. 24, 2024. Moderna, Novavax and Pfizer-BioNTech all had COVID-19 vaccinations available.

The state data on the number of people who took the vaccinations is as of Dec. 21.
The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 by the state has dropped significantly. There were 12,622 COVID-19 deaths in 2020. In 2021, that increased to 15,019. The number of people dying from the virus dropped to 8,154 in 2022 and 2,623 in 2023. The state stated 1,325 have died due to COVID-19 in 2024 as of Nov. 21.
