GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – It’s a special gift just in time for Christmas! Michigan welcomed 138 dogs after being rescued from commercial breeding and puppy mills.

The Bissell Pet Foundation flew the dogs from the National Mill Dog Rescue in Missouri to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

These rescued dogs came from states across the U.S. to the National Mill Dog Rescue; they’ve undergone medical attention.

The dogs are headed to 11 shelters across the state. The SPCA of Southwest Michigan is one such shelter that is participating in the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope Event. It runs until Dec. 17.

The Bissell Pet Foundation pays adoption fees. Adoptees can take home a forever pet who is spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. For more information click here or here.
