JACKSON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The city of Jackson promoted its program on social media Wednesday where lower-income residents can get up to $35,000 in taxpayer dollars if they purchase a home in the city.

The city stated that one year into its 100 Homes Program there have been 15 houses sold and occupied.

In addition, the city is supporting the sale of 100 homes that come with a sales price of $175,000. The average median home value in Jackson is $178,460, according to Zillow. The houses vary from a mixture of one-or two-story homes.

The city will give approved lower-income applicants $25,000 in “down payment assistance.” Residents may qualify for another $10,000 from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

To qualify for the program, an individual would have to make $70,800 or less while a family of four making $101,150 would also qualify.
