WARREN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Life hasn’t been easy for Will Turner, a combat veteran from Warren, Michigan, and his family, including his wife and their three kids, Mya, Bella and Solomon. After losing their home not once but twice within four years, the Turners were no strangers to hardship. But this holiday season, a miracle found its way to them – and it aired on national television.
Turner shared their story with Clarkson, revealing the struggles that led to their housing instability. Their first eviction, he explained, was wrongful, following his wife’s need to leave her job. The second time, they were forced out of their home due to dangerous black mold. A veterans organization helped them into their new home.
Clarkson to the rescue.

Then, on the “The Kelly Clarkson Show” recently, the Turners were given a life-changing surprise: a completely redesigned home, thanks to Humble Design, who help people emerge out of homelessness, and Wayfair.
Clarkson, known for her big voice and bigger heart, celebrated the family’s resilience by turning their house into a haven. The living room reveal brought gasps as the Turners saw a cozy space with a large TV, plush furniture, and inviting decor.
On the show, the couple told Clarkson about how they didn’t have a couch, table for dinner or a washer and dryer.
A medal of honor (and more).
While the redesigned rooms were stunning, the most emotional moment came from the U.S. Military. Having lost his service records and medals, Will was gifted with replacements, alongside a ceremonially folded American flag. Tears flowed freely as the family celebrated not only their new home but also the recognition of Will’s sacrifices.
Decked-out bedrooms and a $5K boost.
The surprises didn’t stop there. Upstairs, each child discovered a brand-new bedroom designed just for them which was a result of Humble Design asking a lot of questions so that the rooms were comfortable and set up for the person living in it.
Downstairs, the kitchen and laundry room were also transformed. As if that wasn’t enough, Wayfair gifted the family an additional $5,000 to help them rebuild their lives.
The magic of giving.

Saying she’s at peace now, the makeover wasn’t just about furniture and decor. Mom Andraya Turner said, “When you’ve been battling homelessness for a while, you really miss the little things. The normality.”
