LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is ignoring an Isabella County judge and is working to reinstate criminal charges against three police officers. The charges stem from an incident where they did not intervene in an assault case by a Michigan State Trooper.
Last month, an Isabella County judge dismissed the willful neglect of duty charges against Trooper Zachary Tebedo and Saginaw Police officers Jordan Engelhart and Dominic Vasquez. They were at the scene in March 2022 when then-trooper Bram Schroeder punched a man multiple times while in handcuffs. Earlier this year, Schroeder received probation. He is no longer an officer.

The judge ruled the lack of intervention did not constitute willful neglect of duty. This was the second time a judge has said that they did not violate a law.
