LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Nov. 15 marks an unofficial holiday in Michigan. It’s the start of firearm deer hunting season, and many Michiganders are expected to “call in sick” or be unavoidably detained.

In the spirit of the season, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) posted a mock yet humorous “permission slip” on social media for hunters to be excused from activities on Friday, Nov. 15 and over the weekend.

However, hunters may want to read the fine print at the bottom of the slip: “‘This slip does not actually excuse anyone from activities ‘(we tried!).'”

Firearm deer season opens Nov. 15 and ends Nov. 30.
