LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Michigan GOP and MIRS has called the 7th District election for Republican Tom Barrett over Democratic Curtis Hertel. With 96.4% of the vote counted according to WDIV-Detroit, Barrett is ahead of Hertel by with 50% of the vote compared to Hertel’s 46%.

Republican Barrett is a former state senator. The district he will be representing includes Ingham, Livingston, Shiawassee, and Clinton counties, along with most of Eaton County and small sections of Oakland and Genesee counties. Key cities within the district are Lansing, East Lansing, St. Johns, Owosso, and Howell.
