LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain of Bruce Township secured one of the top leadership roles in the GOP on November 13, ascending to the position of chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. This makes McClain the fourth-highest-ranking Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives and the highest-ranking woman in GOP leadership.

“It is an honor to be selected by my Republican colleagues to represent our conference as their chairwoman,” McClain said, according to the Detroit Free Press

First elected to Congress in 2020, McClain has been an advocate for conservative values and a supporter of former President Donald Trump.

“The American people have given our party a mandate to lead and pass President Trump’s agenda,” McClain said. “Our message of economic stability, safety at home and abroad and returning to traditional American values resonated with Americans who have traditionally not supported our party.”

As chairwoman, McClain is tasked with uniting the Republican caucus and overseeing the GOP’s legislative agenda in a slim House majority. McClain pledged to amplify conservative principles and address the concerns of Americans.

“It is our obligation to take this winning message to the people and I will work tirelessly to amplify the voices within our conference to reach beyond our traditional audience.”

Her rise to the leadership role follows the departure of Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York), who has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Representing Michigan’s 9th Congressional District—which encompasses parts of Macomb, Oakland, and the Thumb—McClain has consistently emphasized fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and public safety. Prior to her time in Congress, she built a successful career as an executive with Hantz Group, a Michigan-based financial services firm.
