MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Volunteer crews leant a helping hand to the city of Marquette and spent three weeks cleaning Styrofoam out of Lake Superior near the Dead River outlet.

Superior Watershed Partnership assisted the city in cleaning up the area. Last month, rough waves caused the turbidity curtain and float boom used in the city’s dredging project to break apart. That left the Styrofoam along the beach.

Superior Watershed Partnership says it’s continuing to monitor the situation in case more Styrofoam surfaces. The City of Marquette said the cleanup does not impact the project’s timeline.
