The defense had another strong game, recording one sack and two interceptions. The first interception led to a short drive and quick touchdown by the offense.

Short-yardage touchdowns came from the offense, and special teams produced a touchdown on a kickoff return. The first 28 points scored came on 10 plays with a one-play and two-play drive for two scores. Gibbs had the longest run of his career, 70 yards, with 3:57 left in the first quarter, putting Detroit back on top, 14-7. A two-play drive gave Detroit a 7-0 lead, capitalizing on an interception as Montgomery rushed in from seven yards out.

A three-play drive came in the second quarter after Khalil Dorsey returned a kickoff 72 yards to the Tennessee 25-yard line. A Montgomery run and two Goff passes ended with an eight-yard touchdown reception to Brock Wright.

Five Lions’ players scored on the day as Sam LaPorta, Kalif Raymond, and Amon-Ra St. Brown had the other two receiving touchdowns. Montgomery added a passing touchdown to his career with a three-yard pass to LaPorta in the second quarter (2:18) for a 35-14 lead.

Raymond’s 90-yard kickoff return early in the third quarter gave the Lions a 42-14 lead.
