LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Michigan National Guard will deploy to the southwest border to help federal law enforcement officials for one year.

The 1463rd Transportation Company based in Battle Creek will gather with family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 26th at Lakeview Middle School in Battle Creek. The deployment’s purpose is to assist U.S. Customs and Border Patrol with securing the border, a problem that has loomed because of the policies of the Biden-Harris.

Meanwhile, pleas from state corrections officers to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to deploy the national guard to help fill the gaps in Michigan’s prison system has fallen on deaf ears. Prisoners vastly outweigh the number of corrections officers, which they say is dangerous and is leading to officers leaving their jobs.

This is the fifth time the Michigan Guard has been asked to deploy to the border. In 2008, the 1463rd was deployed to Iraq.
