LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Archery deer hunting season in Michigan is well underway and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reports 20,000 deer have been harvested so statewide.

DNR officials said that’s on track with the last couple of years. Normally, hunters harvest about 300,000 deer throughout the entire season.

In addition, the independence hunt started on Thursday and runs through Sunday. That’s a special firearms season for people with disabilities. It’s open statewide on private lands.

Archery season runs until Nov. 14, and regular firearm season starts on Nov. 15.
