KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Moving to 3-0 in the MAC, Western Michigan held off Buffalo, 48-41, staying undefeated, handing the Bulls their first MAC loss. Holland’s Blake Bosma caught six passes for 85 yards and had three touchdowns.

“How about them Broncos. I can’t be more proud of a group of men that continued to find a way to overcome adversity. I was really proud of how our guys showed up,” says head coach Lance Taylor.

WMU had a 28-10 lead in the game before Buffalo came back to tie the game at 38 in the fourth quarter with 11:08 left to play. Luka Zurak kicked a 37-yard field goal for a 41-38 lead, and then Jaden Nixon went 54 yards with 2:43 left to play, making it 48-38. Buffalo made a 22-yard field goal with 1:02 left, but WMU kept the ball in the final minute, closing out the game for the win.

Bosma caught the first touchdown in the first quarter at 11:12 to tie the game at seven on a 16-yard pass. He put WMU up, 21-10, with a 14-yard pass at 8:49 in the second quarter and then less than a minute later a 12-yard pass for the 28-10 lead. He now leads the team with five touchdowns receiving and is second in receiving yards with 270.

WMU hosts Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3:30 p.m. in Waldo Stadium. The game will be on ESPN+.
