JACKSON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A sad story has spurred a much happier ending in Jackson County.

A recent case involving 30 deceased cats found in an apartment dumpster has moved to the prosecutor’s office, and promted others in similar hoarding or overwhelming home situations to seek help. That’s lead to a surge of cats being given to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.

In order to make space for more animals, the shelter is offering a special “Elect to Adopt in 2024” event with $24 adoption fees.

A private donor made the reduced rates possible through Election Day on Nov. 5. Whether you’re looking for a “Democat” or “Republikitten,” everyone wins with this purr-fectly timed adoption event.
