BATH, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has this message for Michigan voters: “Do not check my name. Check Donald Trump.”

Kennedy’s comment came during a two hour town hall in Clinton County on Thursday night. Conservative commentator and host Steve Gruber asked Kennedy a variety of questions, from his roots in the Democratic party to his suspended presidential campaign and election integrity. Kennedy’s name will appear on the ballot in Michigan despite several attempts in court to have it removed.

Absentee ballots started arriving in Michigan mailboxes on Thursday, so this gave Kennedy an opportunity to discuss election integrity and acknowledged that no machine is perfect.

“If you question election integrity you are into conspiracy theories,” Kennedy said, referring to what he called partisan battles over election results since the George W. Bush and Al Gore presidential race in 2000. “We can make machines that work,” he said. “We have ATMs that never give you more money than you ask for.”

He also seemed to push back against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, the self-appointed defender of democracy, without mentioning her name directly. “The anemic safeguards we have are completely ineffective,” Kennedy said discussing the ways elections can be tampered with. “We need paper ballots in every state, and we need to be careful with mail in ballots.”

Kennedy also spent close to an hour talking about his passion, “Making America Healthy Again.” He said the country is being “mass poisoned” by chemicals in food not allowed in other countries. Kennedy said he had a long conversation with Trump after the July 13 attempted assassination against him in Butler, Pennsylvania and realized the two clicked on many issues. A month later, Kennedy suspended his campaign and threw his support behind Trump.

Kennedy made no secret that he plans to work with the Trump administration. “On day one, I’m going to urge Trump to declare an emergency for chronic diseases,” he said. Then he reminded those in the room to spread the word: “Do not check my name [on the ballot]. Check Donald Trump. That’s the only way I’ll get to Washington and make America healthy again,” Kennedy said.
