LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is once again challenging Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson in court. He is asking a federal court to prohibit  Benson, a Democrat, from including his name on the November ballot.

Kennedy filed his complaint in the Eastern District of Michigan. The suit follows the Michigan Supreme Court ruling on Monday that sided with Benson and said Kennedy, the nominee of the Natural Law Party in Michigan, should be on the ballot. Kennedy suspended his campaign last month and endorsed former President Donald Trump.

Some have argued that Benson is fighting so strongly to keep Kennedy’s name on the ballot so voters are fooled and cast a vote for him, which would most likely take votes away from Trump and help Vice President Kamala Harris.

In fact, that’s what Kennedy’s lawsuit contends. “[It would serve] no purpose other than to undermine the integrity of the election for president of the United States,” the lawsuit said.

Last Friday marked the deadline that required Benson to certify the candidates for the November ballot and the ballot printing process could begin.
