EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Tuesday afternoon brought great news to East Lansing as the Michigan State University women’s soccer team earned the no. 1 spot in the nation. The United Soccer Coaches Poll released its rankings, and MSU received 199 points, coming in ahead of the University of Arkansas.
This is the first time in program history that MSU has been the top team in the nation. Last week, MSU gained two more wins: a 2-0 win over Nebraska and a 1-0 victory over then-no. 9 Penn State. At 8-0-2 and 3-0-0 in the Big Ten, MSU is having its best start in program history.

MSU moved to the top with ranked wins over Penn State and then no. 15 Notre Dame to start the season. They have ties with then, no. 9 Arkansas and no. 15 Xavier University.
They play Ohio State on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7:00 p.m. in Columbus.
