DEARBORN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A new poll from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) shows that the Democrats might have wasted a lot of their time fighting against the wrong presidential candidate. Instead of using their money and energy to keep Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the ballot (they won) and trying to kick Cornel West off (they lost), instead, the Democrats should have been concentrating on Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

Sure, Stein seems to appear on the ballot every time there’s a presidential election, but this time she could make a real difference among a specific voter demographic, Muslim voters, and become the candidate who becomes the REAL perennial thorn in the Democrats’ side as she gears up to possibly play spoiler in swing states like Michigan.

The latest poll from CAIR called the “2024 Election Survey of Muslim Voters” shows that Stein is riding high among Muslim voters, with a whopping 40% support in Michigan to Harris’s 12% and Trump’s 18% with undecideds sitting at 21%.The support for Harris in the state is already teetering on a knife’s edge because of promises from the pro-Palestinian “uncommitted” crowd to refrain from voting for her if she doesn’t support their wishes to stop providing money and arms to Israel among other requests.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, CAIR also reports that the “Gaza Genocide” is a top concern for these voters, with a staggering 98.2% expressing dissatisfaction with Biden’s handling of what they perceive as the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza. The administration’s stance has left many feeling abandoned, fueling growing discontent among key voter demographics who feel their concerns are being ignored on the international stage.

Stein surges ahead in battleground states.

According to the CAIR survey, Stein is also leading Harris among Muslim voters in Arizona (35% v. 29%) and Wisconsin (44% v. 39%), while Harris leads Stein in Georgia (43% vs. 17%) and Pennsylvania (37% vs. 25%). Trump is leading in Nevada (27%), where he holds an edge over Harris (26%) and Stein (13%). The grand total from the six states puts Stein ahead of Harris by a 2% margin and ahead of Trump by 15%.

Overall, in their survey of Muslim voters across the country, Harris amasses 29.4% of the Muslim vote to Stein’s 29.1%, a virtual dead heat. Trump has 11.2% with undecideds at 16.5%.

So while Democrats might’ve thought that their biggest headaches this election cycle in Michigan would come from Kennedy’s anti-vaccine rants or West’s philosophical musings, Stein’s quiet campaign is sneaking up on them like a thief in the night.

Too busy battling Kennedy and West who probably won’t steal the show, but Stein just might.

The verdict isn’t in on whether the votes for presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West are going to result in anything more than a side show. But Stein? She’s got something they don’t: a history of playing spoiler, a devoted base of disenchanted voters, and a knack for sticking it to the Democratic establishment.

Michigan Democrats should have seen this coming from a mile away. After all, Stein was already the scapegoat in 2016 when her 51,463 votes in Michigan were blamed for Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump by a razor-thin margin. Now, with a new and growing fanbase among Muslim voters, Stein could once again be the wrench in the works that Michigan Democrats just can’t afford in a close race.

Wake-Up call? The Green Party candidate Democrats love to hate is back.

It’s not like the warning signs haven’t been around. Yet, instead of tackling the Stein problem head- on, Michigan Democrats have been distracted, fixated on Kennedy and West.

CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said in a statement “These new survey findings make it clear that American Muslim voters have the potential to determine the outcomes in several key battleground states and that they are still up for grabs in the 2024 election.”

And with the Sunday, September 15th deadline looming over Harris’s head to meet with the “uncommitted” crowd to get their endorsement, things are looking a bit grim for a Harris victory in Michigan.

Stein’s silent sting: the Democrats’ blind spot could haunt them in Michigan.

While Stein may be dismissed by many as a “fringe” candidate, in swing states like Michigan, every vote counts and Stein might just pull just enough to make sure the Democrats feel every bit of her sting because while they have been busy shadowboxing Kennedy and West, Jill Stein was quietly doing what she does best: positioning herself as the protest vote for those fed up with both parties – and both candidates.
