LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s elk hunting season is underway, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking people to report illegal hunting.
The DNR reports that more than 70,000 people applied for licenses to hunt elk during the 2024 season, but only a few hundred are distributed. Wildlife officials said suspicious activity includes using nighttime spotlights or hunting outside of a season.
Suspicious activity can be reported to the DNR or the poaching hotline at 1-800-292-780.
